Winchester install roof beams on Shawnee Volunteer Fire and Rescue
Company’s new home. The 29,000-square-foot fire hall, located on four
acres off of Weems Lane, was originally scheduled to open this month,
but design delays and inclement weather pushed the expected completion
date to mid-April. The $3 million building will feature three separate
but connected facilities — a bingo hall, apparatus bays, and crew
quarters. The company’s current home, at 2333 Roosevelt Boulevard, is
for sale. The existing facility and its land, owned by the fire company,
have an assessed value of $685,100, according to the Winchester
